The 2016 Edmonton Open Table Tennis Championships takes place September 3rd and 4th at the University of Alberta’s Saville Community Sports Centre. The Edmonton Open is an annual tournament organized to Table Tennis Canada’s (TTCAN) 3-star standard and is hosted and run entirely by volunteers of the Edmonton Table Tennis Club (ETTC).
Registration is now open and will remain open until August 23, 2016 or until events are full. You can jump straight to the registration page or continue reading for more information. The tournament includes events that cater to all skill levels from novice to expert (open singles) and age specific groups ranging from under 15 to over 70 years of age. Total prize money is $2,245, with the top prize of $700 going to the winner of the Open Singles Championship.
This year will be the 56th Edmonton Open and we’re proud to continue being the standard bearer for table tennis excellence in Western Canada. Edmonton Table Tennis Club (ETTC) is especially proud that a tournament of this magnitude and visibility is possible entirely through the volunteer efforts of its members. Last year’s tournament was a success with over 100 players from the Yukon and Alberta competing over 2 days, with Kenny Li crowned as the Edmonton Open champion. Here’s what we looked like in last year’s news:
Click HERE to register for the 2016 Edmonton Open. You’ll find all the information you need about the schedule, authorized equipment, rules, eligibility, formats and prizes. We recommend that you sign up for your matches and pay your entry fees through online registration. Or you can be boring (and not green) and do it like in the old days via hardcopy.
The Edmonton Open wouldn’t be the Edmonton Open if we didn’t feed all of you. So once again we’ll provide sustenance for you guys with a banquet that will be held at 7pm on Saturday, September 3. Please note that the people exerting themselves (the players) will get a complimentary ticket to the banquet and all others that would like to chow down with us will be charged $30 apiece.
If you have any tournament related questions, please contact our Tournament Director, John Gunraj at email@example.com. If you would like to advertise or become a sponsor at the Edmonton Open, please contact John Kim at firstname.lastname@example.org. Thanks and see you all at the tournament!
